Desh Natak
From the foundation in 1987, Desh Natak has always been believing enthusiasm for drama and dramatic activities. The attempts to direct the thoughts to improve people’s and cultural values keep the activities of this group flowing. We build the present with the education of the past, longing for a better human life in the future. Desh Natak has already been able to stage twenty-two plays despite various adversities. Most of these plays have been written by the playwrights of Desh Natak.
We always acknowledge our debt to the audience. Inspired by the audience, Desh Natak will advance in its adorable theatrical path. In the words of Rabindranath Tagore, “You have made me infinite, such is your pastimes…”

Ishrat Nishat Natto Puraskar 2023
Today, on February 3, 2024, the announcement of the Ishrat Nishat Natto Puraskar 2023 took place at the seminar hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Selina Shelley, the main coordinator of the Ishrat Nishat Natto Puraskar organizing committee, declared the recognition in front of the journalists from the press and electronic media of Bangladesh. The welcoming statement at the event was delivered by Nasir Uddin Yusuf, the Chairman of the Ishrat Nishat Natto Puraskar Implementation Committee.
History of Desh Natak
This was the decade of Eighties. The country was going on under a turmoil situation. The autocratic president of Bangladesh HM Ershad was in power. The political parties revolted against the autocratic regime. Processions against the autocracy were arranged every day. Police shot protesters in processions and that created mass mobilization against the autocratic rules countrywide. In such a time cultural activists were not sitting idle. They were staging various cultural activities against the repressive ruler all over the country.

The simple people of Bhabokhali village perceive life very easily. Saral, with a simple mind, sees life in vibrant colors. He is deeply delighted by the games of kites, folk songs, and all the traditional festivities that take place every day. The prominent figure of the village, Dadam Malithar, organizes an annual folk song event at his house. This year, Dalim Malithar, Dadam Malithar’s son who came from Kolkata, will perform at the event. Dalim captivates everyone with his performance and wins the hearts of all the people in Bhabokhali village, including Josna. Josna, too, is enchanted by Dalim’s charm. Dalim’s exceptional wit and qualities unknowingly draw him closer to Josna in love.
